Featured animal: Malabar pied hornbill (Anthracoceros coronatus)

Location: Dandeli, India
This is a contemporary work of a Malabar pied hornbill tossing and eating wild figs. While birding in the Timber Depot, we came across this beautiful scene. We observed a few Malabar pied hornbills feeding, nesting, and on another visit, having mud baths. Dandeli is known for its high concentration of hornbills and the local photographers and birders are well versed with the locations and seasons to observe them.
