ABOUT ARTIST

I am R.A.Sudha, and I have the soul of an artist and the mind of an environmentalist and nature lover.  As I am an avid bird watcher and forest lover, and not particularly interested in photography, I decided to put the love of nature onto my canvas and specialize in wildlife art.

Wildlife art is the product of the passionate concerns of the artist.  A wildlife painting reflects the personalized sum of the following aspects:

  • Ecological concerns
  • Attention to certain wildlife species
  • Favorite colour schemes
  • Preferred compositional structures
  • Choice of medium
  • Recent and past animal sightings in the wild (usually from a jeep)
  • Field studies, zoo studies, forest studies and internet research of particular animals.

The decision to focus on wildlife art involves precision and care when making the artwork.  Any inconsistencies in form, attitude, or habitat are immediately obvious to a mature audience.

I will leave you with a very interesting question that I came across that reverberated in my mind.  ‘Do you want to be an artist so that the whole world will look at you, or do you want to be an artist because you would like to use your ability to attract attention to a cause, to have the world see wildlife through your art?’

‘The wildlife and its habitat cannot speak, so we must and we will’ – Theodore Roosevelt
